Non-Christmas looking Christmas card & gift

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

Today’s projects are Christmas card and gift (post-it note cover) that don’t have the usual Christmas features (apart from the word ‘BE MERRY’).

I think the design is ok to be either in landscape (card) or portrait (post-it note cover). And as they don’t look too Christmas, the post-it note can be used all year round.

I used Paper Smooches ‘Alphadot’ stamp for the dots on the pink background. I got the pink cardstock from Officework (cheap!). It is called Tula Pink, seems to go ok with the Brushing Bride ink from Stampin’ Up!.

The dies I used are Stampin’ Up! ‘Floral Fusion’ and Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Leaves’

Handmade journaling cards

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I am preparing photos for family and friends in Tanzania whom we met during our holiday, and decided to make some journaling cards with messages and notes to accompany the photos.

These two journaling cards have exactly the same layout, but changing colours and details make them look so much different. I used a flower punch I bought in Japan (for less than $2) for the left card. Mama Elephant ‘In My Heart’ stamp set was used for both cards.

I bought a few small and light albums for the photos and journaling cards.

Mini pocket album from packing paper

I kept all Stampin’ Up! brown packing paper, hoping to make good use of them one day. Today I tried using them to make a mini pocket album, haven’t finished it yet, but here is the sneak peak.

Mini pocket album 5_brown paper

Front –The stamps used are Stampin’ Up! ‘Kind & Cozy’ and ‘Sweetly Framed’. I love that huge pink sequin.

Back – I kept it simple here

Inside page – the right hand side is the inside of the back cover and the left hand side has a pocket to insert a photo mat (or more than one photo mats). The stamps used are Stampin’ Up! ‘Blooming Marvellous’ and ‘Gorgeous Grunge’.

The finish size of the album is 5” × 4½”. The spine takes about ½”, leaving a pocket size of about 4½” × 4½”. All the designer paper is from ‘The Best of My Mind’s Eye’.

Trying Triangles

When sewing patchwork, I love using ‘flying geese’ pattern, which involves joining pieces of triangles together. Today I decided to try using triangles on two cards – both are 4” × 4”.

Trying triangles 1

The three triangles on the first card are Stampin’ Up! ‘Everyday Enchantment’ paper (of course!). To give a different look, I tucked one end of each triangle underneath a flower instead of gluing them completely on the card base.

Trying triangles 3

The flower was made using circles and scallop circles of different sizes and one clay flower, using Stampin’ Up! clay & clay mould, in the centre. The message can be hidden underneath the triangles.

Trying triangles 2

For the second card, I used two pairs of triangles and arranged them in a symmetrical way, but looking a bit less organised. The pattern paper is The Best of My Mind’s Eye.

Trying triangles 4

I added the word ‘hello’, using Lawn Fawn scripty die, and the cotton ribbon printed with triangle banner to the card.

You are always close in my heart

Today’s card is inspired by the beautiful cousinship, between Amy and her twin cousins. They were born in the same year, five months apart. They left each other when they were only less than three years old. They met again, after several years, during our recent holiday. They bonded with each other very well and felt rather sad leaving each other again.

I used Lawn Fawn ‘Into the Wood’ stamp set for the clouds and Mama Elephant ‘In my Heart’ stamp set for everything else.

This is one of their photos together – not very clear though. The twins are the sweetest boys I have ever met, very reasonable, kind and funny too. We miss you very much!

Shaker ornaments

My dear friend, Vicki, gave me a few of Stampin’ Up! previous sale-a-bration stamp sets. Thanks again, Vicki, they are all beautiful! I used a few stamps from these sets to make shaker cards/ornaments.

The stack of presents is from ‘Happy Moments’ set and the little house and little tree are from ‘Good Neighbours’ set.

I used Lawn Fawn stamps and die for the one with the birdy holding balloons. I don’t like this one very much, probably because its colours don’t give the cheerful feeling.

They are easy and fun to make, so I made a few of them. They are all the same size, but in a few different colours.
