Photo card for Mary

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I made some photo cards for friends & relatives in Tanzania, whom we took only one or two photos with. This photo card is for Mary, our niece who lives in Arusha.

I embossed the Smokey Slate background panel with Stampin’ Up! ‘Square Lattice’ embossing folder. Stamp sets used are Stampin’ Up! ‘Raining Flowers’ and ‘My Friend’. The two leaves are cut using Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Leaves’ dies.

Mini pocket album – with Lynn

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

A dear friend of mine, Lynn Padman, came to visit me last Monday. We did a bit of chatting and crafting together. The project we chose to do together is a mini pocket album, which will probably need a few get together sessions to finish.

We managed to do the front, back and inside front cover pages plus a mini treat bag, which we will use as one of the pocket pages.

Front cover – we used ‘Everyday Enchantment’ DSP, ‘Butterfly Basics’ stamp set and a matching butterfly die. A scallop edge (Adorning Accent Edgelits) and a small piece of doily were added for finishing touches.

Back cover – we kept it simple, using ‘Everyday Enchantment’ and the new sale-a-bration ‘Best Year Ever’ DSPs. We used the honeycomb stamp from ‘Butterfly Basics’ stamp set to add texture on Primrose Petals cardstock. I also added a small piece of washi tape.

Inside front cover – we struggled a bit with this page. We used the new sale-a-bration ‘Irresistibly Yours’ DSP and ‘Petal Potpourri’ stamp and matching punch (not shown here). I wasn’t happy with it (I’m pretty sure Lynn felt the same – we were talking of repairing it). After Lynn left I altered the page by adding sentiment, washi tapes and replacing the flower. I took a photo and emailed it to Lynn.

Back cover – I also went ahead and decorated the inside back cover, which I will propose to Lynn if she likes it. I love the bird stamp from the sale-a-bration ‘A Happy Thing’ stamp set. I don’t have blendability and don’t want to ruin the stamp image with my lousy colouring technique so I decided to stamp the bird image in Smokey Slate on water colour background (in Soft Sky, Pool Party and Marina Mist).

I hope you like some of these pages. Thank you so much for stopping by & happy crafting!

Mini treat bags

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I got new Stampin’ Up! products from the new 2015 Occasion and sale-a-bration catalogues yesterday, yeah!. I made some mini treat bags, using mini treat bag thinlits dies that I have been anxiously waiting for, and used a few stamp sets and dies to decorate the bags.

Mini treat bags 1

I have seen gorgeous accordion butterflies on the internet and always wanted to try making one. I made two yesterday and used them for the two bags here. I used Stampin’ Up! From the Garden stamp set and matching die for the tag.

Mini treat bags 2

Painted Petals is a must have stamp set for me. I haven’t mastered it well in choosing colours and the arrangement of the images. But one has to start somewhere and these two bags are my starting point. I added a butterfly on the red bag (used Butterfly Basic stamp set and a matching butterfly die). For the orange bag, I used a stamp from Painted Petals stamp set to create ‘line’ pattern on Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock.

Mini treat bags 3

For the blue bag, I used another stamp from Painted Petals stamp set to create ‘dot’ pattern on Soft Sky cardstock. I used Celebrate Today stamp set and matching dies for the balloon and Cheerful Critters stamp set for the rabbit.

Missing you sew much – in 3 different ways

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I have made a few tags from scrap pieces of cardstock, which were left over from other projects. I used Paper Smooches ‘Needle Little Love’ stamp set and Stampin’ Up! Tea for Two DSP (retired) for the three tags below.

Last weekend I was preparing to sew applique tea towels for a dear friend and remembered how much I used to love sewing. I still do, but seldom have enough time. Anyway it reminded me of this stamp set that I have for a while but never used.

I find gift tags are useful to have at hands as I can just pull one out to use with a gift that I need to give someone in a short notice. It can also be placed on a card when you need one in a hurry. I have already used one for a card.

Just one more journaling card

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I am waiting anxiously for my order of the new Stampin’ Up! products to arrive, hope it will arrive before this long weekend – fingers crossed! For the time being, I have the last (for now) journaling card to share. This is another card that I used Mama Elephant ‘In My Heart’, one of my favourite stamp sets.

In my heart journaling card 2

The pink background was embossed with Stampin’ Up! ‘Decorative Dots’ embossing folder.

In my heart journaling card 3

The words ‘Thank you’ is from Stampin’ Up! ‘Happy Watercolour’ stamp set and ‘so very much’ from ‘Outlined Occasions’.  I stamped the words with VersaMark ink, then embossed in silver. I seldom used this technique as I found it a bit too involving for me (I like anything quick and easy). Well, I have come to love this technique and will be using it more often from now on.

This is an example of the mini album for the photos and journaling cards that I posted to Africa.

Thinking of you

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I have a few more journaling cards to share. The message ‘thinking of you’ on these two cards is from Stampin’ Up! ‘Kind & Cozy’ stamp set.

I like the soft colour of the first card, which I used a scrap piece of Stampin’ Up! ‘Tea for Two’ DSP (retired) to make a little tag. I love the itty bitty flowers – use this punch very often.

The pink (Primrose Petal) piece of the second card was embossed with Stampin’ Up! ‘Alphabet Press’ embossing folder. I used Stampin’ Up! ‘Pansy’ punch for the flower and Lawn Fawn ‘Stitched Leaves’ and ‘Dream’ dies for the leaves.

Sweet Baby

By: Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I made this card to participate in ‘Stampin’ Gals Gone Wild Weekend Challenge’. I found this challenge today on Connie Stewart blog. I have been following Connie’s work for about two years now – love her work a lot!

Here is my participating card.

Sweet baby_SSS challenge 2 Below is the sketch.

January15Sketch-1

The words ‘sweet baby’ is from Stampin’ Up! ‘Baby, We’ve Grown’ stamp set. I added bright watercolour look on the background of the words. I embossed a piece of Pink Pirouette paper with ‘Square Lattice’ embossing folder and used as a panel behind the three circles, thought DSP may make the card looks too busy.

Sweet baby_SSS challenge 1 I added natural twine, vellum butterflies and candy dots as final touches.
