In My Heart – 2016 Desktop Calendar – May

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

Today’s post is my May 2016 page. I have been good (so far) in keeping the same colour combination for this desktop calendar. To me, this is not easy!

I circled the 8th for someone’s birthday (me!). I wanted to decorate this page with a birthday cake, but there isn’t enough space so I made it like a window card and stamped the cake on the inside.

Today’s post is my April 2016 page.

For this month, I circled 25th (ANZAC day) and so I included a red flower – let us imagine that it is a poppy LOL!. What a coincidence, I am posting on the ANZAC day!

In My Heart – 2016 Desktop Calendar – March

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

Today’s post is my March 2016 calendar page.

I used translucent sheet to make a pocket for the little sheep. The grass was die-cut using Lawn Fawn ‘Grassy Border’. The orange patterned paper in the background is from ‘Sweet Sorbet’ DSP, which was one of Stampin’ Up! 2014 sale-a-bration items.

I hand-drew the face of the sheep and used scallop circle punch for her body.  I think she looks cute with the googly eyes and the itty bitty flowers. The little tag was die-cut using Stampin’ Up! Handpicked Framelits Dies.

Anniversary tag

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I haven’t managed to continue with the desktop calendar, but have a mini project – an anniversary tag – to share today.

Anniversary tag_yellow 1

The Real Red and Crisp Cantaloupe hearts were die-cut using the dies that come with Stampin’ Up! ‘Mini Treat Bag Dies’ set. I die-cut some leaves using translucent white sheet and Stampin’ Up! Little Leaves sizzlits. I got the translucent white sheet from Officework. It gives a similar look to White Vellum, but so much cheaper. I haven’t tried stamping on it so I don’t know that side of its quality yet. I also added three layers of the teared translucent sheet at the bottom of the tag.

Anniversary tag_yellow 3

I got the yellow burlap from Bed Bath & Table. Since I have a few non-symmetrical components already on this tag, I decided to make the tails of the bow obviously unequal.

I also made a similar tag in Pistachio Pudding with no burlap. I actually made this one first, but the writing withe the white gel pen didn’t come out well.

In My Heart – Desktop Calendar (February)

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

Hello all, here is the February page.

In my heart_Desktop calendar_Feb 1

The two hearts were die-cut using the dies that come with Stampin’ Up! ‘Mini Treat Bag Dies’ set. I stamped on one side of the large heart with Stampin’ Up! ‘Tape It’. The orange washi tape is from Stampin’ Up! ‘Sweet Dreams’ designer washi tape, which includes five different designs and they are all pretty.

The hand-written words are what I found on the internet and agreed with.

In My Heart – Desktop Calendar

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

I love the desktop calendar I made last month and thought it would make a good gift for friends. I thought I should start exploring some designs for the 2016 calendar. I know there are still almost three-quarters of 2015 left, but I am slow so I better start early.

Here is my January page.

The page size of this calendar is 4 1/8”x 4 3/4”. I gave myself a challenge that I will use the girl stamps from Mama Elephant ‘In My Heart’ stamp set and the same colour combination (black, white, red, orange and green) in all the pages.

To make sure I won’t be off the track, I have already made the base of all pages with white paper and black & white patterned paper spine. I stamped all calendar months in Early Espresso and Real Red ink on white paper and mount on Real Red mat. I also stamped all the girls and coloured them in Crisp Cantaloupe (dress), Sahara Sand (skin) and Early Espresso (hair).

Little cat gift tags

By Bussakorn Mpelasoka

A few days ago I saw on the internet a cute cat which looked like either post-it note or journaling card and thought that was cute. This morning I had time to craft so I tried making a few gift tags that look a bit like the cat I saw.

I love using stamps to create background or pattern papers. A few stamp sets in Stampin’ Up! current Occasional Catalogue and the recent sale-a-bration have stamps that I think are good for this purpose. I used a stamp from ‘Sheltering Tree’ on the body of the white cat, from ‘Painted Petals’ for the Vanilla cat and from sale-a-bration ‘Best Day Ever’ for the pink cat. I added a bow (made using Stampin’ Up! ‘Bow Builder’ punch) to each cat.

I chose the Vanilla one with googly eyes for Lynn. I just came back from visiting her, we had a lovely time catching up and had afternoon tea/coffee together. On the way back home it just came into my mind that Lynn is a dog (not a cat) person, a cat gift tag was an awful choice for her. It is too late now and I hope the cat is cute enough that even a dog person wouldn’t mind having it.
